The West Knox Lions Club was chartered on February 29, 1968. The Club was sponsored by the Karns and Powell Lions Club. West Knox Lions Club has served the West Knoxville, Tennessee, area since it was chartered. Their charter night was April 20, 1968 at the Deane Hill Country Club, Knoxville, TN.

The Club did not waste any time getting busy.
In 1967-1968 they sponsored a magic show at the WNOX on June
14, 1968 raising $325.00. They donated $100.00 to School for Retarded Children
and purchased two pair of glasses.
In 1968-1969 they made name plates at the August 3 & 4 Gun
Show. In the fall White Cane Days solicitations raised $265.36. Sales of light
bulbs generated $481.75.
Since the charter, the club has raised more than $300,000, the majority of which has been used to support very worthwhile projects and organizations and to purchase over 337 eye exams and 336 pairs of glasses for needy residetns. In addition, the club has collected over 2,245 pairs of lenses and 1,717 pairs of eyeglass frames wich have been reccled and used throughout the world. The club has also solicited more than 1,085 eye wills.
